Veterans appreciation event slated

<p class="p1">The Shawnee Community College Saints basketball team is planning to host its annual veterans appreciation day on Saturday, Nov. 14.</p><p class="p1">The annual event is held to honor men and women who have served, and are currently serving, in the nation's armed forces.</p><p class="p1">The salute is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with a reception for veterans in the River Room on the college's main campus near Ullin.</p><p class="p1">The reception will be followed by a Saints basketball game, which tips off at 3 p.m.</p><p class="p1">The college and team invite area veterans to the event, which also will feature free food, free admission, giveaways and free popcorn.</p><p class="p1">For more information, contact Tammy Capps at the college, phone 618-634-3280 or email tammyc@shawneecc.edu.</p>
