Where are the SEALS?

Several years ago while on a vacation to the east coast, we visited my nephew, Craig Pope, who lives in Chesapeake, Virginia.

He had just retired after 30 years as a U.S. Navy explosive expert. We were in a conversation about our military experiences.

I told him I had a couple of medals from my short time with Uncle Sam. But, I was totally stunned when he then showed me his collection of a table full of medals.

However, his medals were all of a classified nature and he couldn't talk about any of them. He had worked on a need to know basis with the Navy SEALS during his extended stay.

Recently, I began thinking about all those medals again when it was revealed that the notorious ISIS had captured 220 Assyrian Christians.

From their history of beheadings, it seems that America's SEALS should be the first to step into the limelight and at least attempt to save some from this horrible death.

In their training, hostage rescue and other similar missions are a high priority.

ISIS has a horrible reputation of not keeping hostages around for very long. They enjoy the press coverage from beheading the innocent victims. If our SEALS could save just a few of them from this fate, then it would be a successful mission.

The nay sayers will no doubt say that we could lose lives over such a venture. There's no doubt about that, it very well could happen.

However, this is what they're trained to do and they all know the consequences of the various Black Ops (operations) they are constantly involved in throughout the world.

Maybe I'm completely wrong and our military is already making plans to conduct such a rescue operation. It's hoped in the back rooms our military is at least weighing the options of intervening into what would appear to be the certain demise of 220 innocent individuals.

In my opinion, ISIS in the long run has to be dealt with either sooner or later by our military forces. We definitely don't want them over here. However, some say they have already arrived and are already planning 9-11 attacks. Let's just hope it's not too late.
