William C. ‘Bill’ McDonald
Bill McDonald, 86, of Cobden, died at 3 a.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1922, in Cobden, the son of Hosea and Clara Anderson McDonald.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked many years as a truck driver for the Trojan Powder Plant.
He married Betty Broadway. He was a life member of the Anna VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Cobden; one son, Patrick (Beth) McDonald of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandsons, Austin (Mary) McDonald and Patrick (Liz) Batchelor; one granddaughter, Haven (John) Asche; and one sister, Betty Thornton of Anna.
He was preceded in death by one son, Rodney; two brothers and four sisters.
Graveside funeral services were Wednesday, May 20, at 3 p.m. in the Anna Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post No. 3455 of Anna. Interment was in the Anna Cemetery.
Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
