Two Southern Illinois men are in custody as suspects in the murder of a rural Dongola man.
Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds and Union County Sheriff David Livesay announced on Saturday, Oct. 31, that Tommy E. Reams, 27, of Dowell, and Michael S. Ellis, 26, of Elkville, had been charged in connection with the death of Gerald Dziczkowski, 57, of rural Dongola.
Dziczkowski was found dead at his home on the evening of Oct. 22.
Reams faces two counts of first degree murder and one count of home invasion.

To the editor,
Here is some information that made news in the last week. Gang rape and brutal beating to a 15 year old girl in California.
People should look at this with a very serious nature. This and other wrongful actions should be dealt with immediately today not tomorrow.
We have a number of serious problems that are avoided, when you avoid a problem you make the problem get bigger.
Howard Franklin Hubbs, 73, of Pekin, and formerly of Union County, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Pekin Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 27, 1936, in Anna, the son of Elmer L. and Helen R. Roberts Hubbs.
He married Marcia L. Eggena on July 21, 1962, in Pekin. She survives.
Charles Allen Peters, 58, of Anna, died at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at his home.
He was born on April 26, 1951, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., the son of William John Sr. and Margaret C. Pribbanow Peters.
He is survived by two brothers, Wayne W. Peters of Anna and Dallas (Barbara) Peters of Elburn; three sisters, Janet Marie (Galen) Guth of St. Charles, Barbara J. (Eugene) Schaefer of Dongola and Linda M. (Sergio) Martinez of St. Charles; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Updates and continuing discussion about several issues were among the highlights of discussion at this week's regular meeting of the Union County Board of Commissioners.
The meeting was Monday afternoon at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.
The commissioners recessed this week's meeting until 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30.
The commissioners plan to meet again on the last day of November to finalize action on budget matters. The county's new fiscal year begins Dec. 1.

Carterville High School football coach Dennis Drust said his team would have to stop three players in particular on the Anna-Jonesboro squad to be successful.
The host Lions failed to accomplish that task and the No. 13 seeded Wildcats pulled off a 41-35 upset win over No. 4 Carterville in opening-round action of the IHSA Class 3A playoffs Saturday, Oct. 31.
“I thought our kids did well and did a nice job running the option,” A-J coach Brett Detering said. “Offensively, we were able to run the ball effectively.”
