79, of Jonesboro, died at 12:02 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at his home.

He was born on May 13, 1930, in Scopus, Mo., the son of Ernest and Dona Grable Pulliam.

He married Veda Mae Long. She preceded him in death in May 1992.

He was a logger. He liked to hunt and fish.

The Anna-Jonesboro High School volleyball team defeated Massac County 25-16 and 25-23 in first round action of the Class 2A Vienna regional tournament Thursday, Oct. 29.

Lindsey Patterson had 7 serves, an ace, 8 serve receives and 6 digs for the Lady Wildcats.

Chandra Parr had 9 serves, an ace, 8 serve receives and 3 hits and 3 kills.

Gordon E. Conant, 55, of Villa Ridge, died at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. Conant was born on July 28, 1954, in Cairo, the son of Roger and Birdie Douglas Conant.

He was a self-employed contractor, a 1972 graduate of Meridian High School in Mounds, an honorary member of the AF & AM Masonic Lodge No. 111 in Jonesboro, a member of the Kim Shrine Club in Cairo and the Masonic Lodge AF & AM in Cairo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Conant on Feb. 29, 2004.
